A SWIFT DECISION
LONDON RESEARCH OFFICER
GORDON CHILDE'S WORK
It was common knowledge in political circles
yesterday that the new Government has ar
rived at a swift decision In regard to the so-
called research work which was being carried
out in London by Mr. Gordon Childe.
It will be romembfered that Mr. Child, a
gentleman somewhat advanced In political
thought and of brilliant scholastic attainments,
was at one time private' secretary "to the late
Mr. John Storey at the Premier's Depart-
ment. It was while occupying the latter post
that the Storey Government conceived the Idea
of sending him to England to carry out his
research duties. Evidently the present Gov-
ernment did not assess the duties' entrusted
to Mr. Childe at the value put upon them by a
previous Ministry, and tbe appointment has
been terminated.
There are persistent rumors that some other
appointments are to come under review at a
very early date.
